According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the agency has made a re-announcement of an infant crib recall after a 7-month-old baby girl died. The agency issued a recall in 2008 for the Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” drop-side crib, stating it posed a risk of entrapment and suffocation. At the time of a 2008 recall, the CPSC notified consumers about the death of an 8-month-old girl who suffocated when the drop side of the crib detached. The agency also received reports at that time of two entrapments and nine crib detachments.
The agency warns consumers that buying drop-side cribs second hand is risky, as the cribs may not be safe for a baby or may be missing safety parts. It also warns parents and caregivers to discontinue using cribs with missing or broken parts. Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” drop-side crib was sold in stores nationwide between January 1995 and December 2005.
The recalled crib has Delta’s name and address printed on the bottom of mattress support boards and the Delta logo is on the crib’s top teether rail. Parents can locate model numbers on the top of the mattress support board. The product recall includes the following 49 Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” drop-side crib models:

Second Infant Death Prompts Re-Announcement of Delta Enterprise “Safety Peg” Drop-Side Crib Recall
Monday, March 28th, 2011IKEA Crib Recalled Due to Potential Risk of Collapse
Monday, February 28th, 2011According to Know About Health, parents are warned of a Canada and the United States safety product recall for the IKEA SNIGLAR crib.
A crib is one of the most important parts of an infant’s room, as it is where many babies spend most of their time during the first few months of life. The crib is also one of the most expensive items that many parents will have to purchase.
According to reports, Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have recalled the IKEA SNIGLAR brand cribs, urging parents to reconsider their use even though no injuries have occurred as of yet.
The reason for the recall is due to the possibility of infants becoming trapped and suffocating if the supports for the mattress detach. According to the recall, some bolts are not long enough to support the mattress, resulting in a potential collapse hazard.
The full size cribs feature model number 60091931 and were on the market in IKEA stores across the United States and in Canada from late 2005 into mid 2010. IKEA plans to offer a free crib repair kit.
Cribs Recalled by Stork Craft
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), Stork Craft Manufacturing has recalled approximately 500,000 baby cribs due to possible breakage of a support bracket.
The CPSC has received 10 reports from consumers in which the brackets broke, dropping the mattress below the side rails. In one incident, a child received bruises to his forehead and in another, a child reportedly was trapped between the mattress and siderails but was uninjured.
If your child is sleeping in a Stork Craft crib purchased between May 2000 and November 2008, the CPSC urges you to not allow your child to continue to do so until it has been repaired. If you purchased a used crib and are not sure if it’s a Stork Craft, look on the teething bar on top of the side rail. This is where Stork Craft puts their ensignia ”storkcraft baby.”
Free replacement parts are available from Stork Craft at 866-361-3321 or from their website.
