Child Car Seat Recall

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Accordng to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Baby Trend, manufacturer of child safety seats, is recalling several models of child car seats because they may fail during an auto accident.  The models involved in the recall are:

Magnum # 6439, Galaxy #6481, Silverado #6448 and all 6400S car seat bases that were sold separately.

The recall is due to a defect in the latch that holds the seat to the base.  The latch was made of a inferior steel which may crack during a collision allowing the seat to be released from its based allowing no protection for the child.

Parents and caregivers are asked to stop using the seat immediately and contact Baby Trend at 1-800-328-7363 for a free replacement base.
